New Year’s Eve Dinner

Usually we spend the New Year Eve with some friends, having dinner at home and just relax, enjoying each other’s company. Last year was no exception, and we drove up to the hills to our friends’ with one of my collegues as well. Just in time to see the castle of Torrechiara lighten up and ready to enter its 555th year….

As we set the table and cooked the meal, hubby was entertaining with some speech about the year that was about to end….not really listening, I have to say, because he has the tendency to be verbose….lol…

Somebody really wanted to be invited, but ….no buddy, no way….

We had vol-au-vent with a prawns-and-leek sauce….

…..and with cheese and walnuts.

A tasting of cheeses (so, so, so good)

Penne with truffles cream, and fresh grated truffles on top

Salmon rolls filled with creamy robiola covered in sesame seeds, seafood salad and octopus with potatos salad.

Our corner of sweets….panettone, spongata, a chocolate cake and coconut and chocolate pralines…..

the chocolate cake was so very good!

At the end, the table looked like a battlefield!

Outside we enjoyed some fireworks from afar…..but it was sooooo cold that night, we could stand much being out!
